Logistics, manufacturing, and automated lines need fast length, width, height, and volume data. Unlike line-laser profiling, which requires continuous motion, or light-curtain methods that infer volume from occlusion, 3D vision captures the object’s surface directly and supports static and multi-target measurement.
3D vision volume measurement application

Solution overview

The solution uses a 3D camera to capture target data and calculate length, width, height, and volume. It supports one or multiple targets and can send results to a higher-level system through a communication interface.

Solution characteristics

  • Millimeter-level measurement: Historical material reports millimeter-level accuracy. Actual accuracy depends on the camera model, installation, calibration, and target properties.
  • Fast recognition: Complete target recognition and volume calculation in a short time.
  • Multi-target measurement: Capture 3D data for multiple objects at the same time.
  • Complex-object adaptation: Support irregular parts, highly reflective parts, and bulk cargo; in some scenarios, suppress film interference.

Application scenarios

  • Logistics and warehousing: Capture load dimensions and volume to support inventory, transport, and loading management.
  • Manufacturing: Verify product dimensions and collect packaging-process data.
  • Automated lines: Feed measurement results into existing control workflows.
  • Airport logistics: Measure baggage or cargo packages to support space matching and sorting.

Deployment considerations

Dust, oil, and water mist can affect optical imaging. Keep the measurement area and lens clean, and make sure the camera bracket is rigid and stable.
Confirm target types, surface properties, and system-interface requirements before deployment.
