Project background
Dynabook began modernizing its China production site in 2019 and introduced mobile robots for logistics and production workflows. Workers and robots share the aisles, with both static and moving obstacles present. The vehicle therefore needs 3D perception along its travel path.
Perception solution
The AMR uses an MRDVS S Series 3D obstacle-avoidance camera to capture RGB and depth data:- 3D obstacle detection: Detect low, static, and moving obstacles in the aisle.
- Dynamic-avoidance inputs: Provide environmental information for avoiding people and moving equipment.
- Cart-docking assistance: Provide 3D perception data for the cart-docking localization workflow.
Deployment considerations
- Install the camera where it covers the travel direction and near-floor obstacles without blockage from the chassis or load.
- Configure detection zones and avoidance policies based on AMR speed, braking distance, and aisle width.
- Test the complete vehicle in representative conditions where people, carts, and equipment share the aisle.
The camera supplies environmental perception data. The robot controller implements and validates slowing, detouring, stopping, and safety interlocks.
